Does contacting Second Leash guarantee a foster placement?
No. Placement depends on foster capacity, timing, location, transportation, the dog’s needs, legal authority, and available resources.
Does the owner keep ownership of the dog?
The program is designed for owners to retain ownership during temporary care, subject to written agreements, applicable law, and any valid court or animal-control order.
How long can a dog stay in foster care?
Care periods are considered case by case. The expected duration, milestones, communication plan, and realistic return date should be discussed before placement.
Who pays for food and veterinary care?
Responsibilities vary by placement and written agreement. Second Leash may help with approved expenses when funding and donated supplies are available.
Can you take a dog immediately?
Usually no placement can be promised immediately. Second Leash is foster-based and does not operate a walk-in shelter.
Can renters foster?
Yes, when the landlord or property manager allows the dog and the home is appropriate for the placement.
Are donations tax-deductible?

Why is the street address not published?
